Black Sabbath announce intimate homecoming

Godfathers of Heavy Metal, Black Sabbath have announced an intimate homecoming show, their first in 13 years, at the Birmingham O2 Academy on May 19th. This is huge, yet at the same time, tiny!

‘Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler return to their hometown for this exclusive show following November’s momentous announcement that the band are currently working on their first studio album in thirty three years with seven-time Grammy winning producer Rick Rubin. It will be their ninth studio album together and their first since 1978’s Never Say Die!’

We just wish Bill was in the fold.

FAITH NO MORE Announce London show

Obviously we we’re proper gutted when the shitty news of the Sonisphere cancellation broke. Not only because it’s a great festival with a great vibe, but because Faith No More were the Sunday headliners and we’d already sex wee’d a bit when we heard that, so the cancellation was disappointing to say the least.

However, Faith No More have now announced a one-off show at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on July 8th.

Tickets go on sale April 24th at 9am

Sonisphere UK cancelled?

It’s heavily rumoured that the UK leg of Sonisphere is going to be cancelled… which sucks.

A number of acts including Saturday headliners Queen have removed the date from the schedules, with Queen stating on their official site: “It is with very heavy hearts and much regret that we announce the cancellation of Sonisphere Knebworth 2012″.

An official statement is expected tomorrow, but it is thought that poor ticket sales are to blame. The question is though, is this down to prices, the over-saturation of festivals or choice of headliners.

In our opinion Sonisphere’s line-up was strong, although not as strong as previous years, this after all is the festival that brought us the Big 4 last year, but they still had some big names lined up to play this year. Would this have happened if they had someone truly anticipated on the bill like Van Halen or a massive name like Iron Maiden?

The price and over-saturation may be an issue. Sonisphere was to be held only 4 weeks after Download – which has an amazing line up and would possibly have won out if due to budgets you had to make a decision to go to one over the other. In all honesty we probably would have chosen Download over Sonisphere this year if we had to.

Whatever the reason, if it is true we are really going to miss Sonisphere, especially Faith No More. We’ve had fun every time we’ve been and it always felt like it was going to become one of the truly great festivals of the summer.

‘scuse us while we go and do a sad face :O(

A message from Tony Iommi

Tony Iommi has posted an message on his official site about his current condition as he battles lymphoma, it reads;

“Hiya,

A little update on how it’s all going:

Well, I’ve had the last dose of chemotherapy so hopefully my body will start to get back to normal soon, the steroids were the worse. I’ve now got three weeks of radiotherapy coming up which I’m told can be very tiring so we’ll see.”

He then goes on to thank his bands mates…

“A big thanks to Ozzy and Geezer for coming over to England, it was a big incentive for me, we managed to work most day and have some great new tracks”

…before going on to thank all the fans for their kind messages.

Get well soon Tony, our thought are with you and we’ll be seeing you at Download \m/
